A nocturnal emission is an involuntary ejaculation of semen that occurs during sleep in males after puberty.[1] Nocturnal emissions are also known as wet dreams.

Nocturnal emissions occur when the seminal vesicles become overfilled with semen due to lack of voluntary discharge.
