The film was conceived in 2003 by the Italian director Carlo Lavagna. The genesis has to be found earlier, in a dream he had during a summer nap when he was ten. In the last decade the idea has developed into a script that won a government grant in 2012, when Ring Film joint the production. Arianna investigates intersexuality through the eyes of a nineteen year old intersex who believes to be a girl. This is a film about us: by discussing intersexuality it defines the boundaries of power’s jurisdiction over those who pose a threat to it, whether they do so intentionally or otherwise.
