Pagonis was born in Chicago, IL, and has Mexican and Greek ancestry. Pagonis seems to be of indeterminate gender.

As a child, Pagonis, a queer and non-binary person who uses they/them pronouns,[1][2] was diagnosed with androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS).[3] He were not told of this intersex variation, were assigned female at birth, told that he had ovarian cancer (when they in fact had internal testes and no ovaries), and subjected to a series of surgeries to alter his genitalia.[3][1]
