INGOCGA - International NGO Council on Genital Autonomy is an organization of NGOs dedicated to protecting all children — girls, boys and children with intersex characteristics — from all forms of medically unnecessary genital cutting / mutilation.[1]
INGOGCA was established in 2016 to promote the consistent application of existing principles that every child is an independent holder of rights and that all children everywhere should be protected from genital cutting that is not medically necessary.[1]
In 2001, an INGOCGA member organization, Attorneys for the Rights of the Child (ARC) made a presentation to the Sub-Commission for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights. In 2018, INGOCGA submitted by invitation a general document on MGC as a human rights violation. INGOCGA continues to work with many colleagues around the world to prepare country-specific submissions on MGC as a human rights violation.[1]
