Billy Ray Boyd
Billy Ray Boyd is a circumcised man who lives most of his time in San Francisco, writing and teaching English [at a college] to refugees and immigrants. With friends, he founded The Victims Speak, a group of "men friends, and loved ones hurt by circumcision in various ways and degrees who seek to bring their voice to the circumcision debate through creative non-violent action.
Billy Ray Boyd is an intactivist. He has authored two books to advance knowledge of the harm and lack of benefit of child circumcision.
Early life
Boyd grew up in the Ozark Mountains of north Arkansas. His family did not believe in infant circumcision, so he was protected from the usual harmful circumcision of the newborn.
Premature forcible foreskin retraction
Premature forcible foreskin retraction (PFFR) is a very bad way to care for an intact, foreskinned boy. As a young boy, Boyd received a harmful forced foreskin retraction of his intact foreskin by an ignorant caretaker, which ripped apart the synechia that fused the inner surface of his immature foreskin with his underlying glans penis. Adhesions were the result as the raw surfaces healed together.
"A circumcision was recommended to solve the problem once and for all."[1]
