The International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation is a United Nations-sponsored annual awareness day that takes place on 6 February as part of the UN's efforts to eradicate female genital mutilation. It was first introduced in 2003.[1]

Double standard

This day is used by many politicians to take a personal stand on the topic of female genital mutilation. From the point of view of intactivism it is particularly interesting whether these positions consider FGM in isolation from MGM, possibly even vehemently deny parallels, or whether they consider the connection between all forms of genital mutilation in children reveal.
