Fetus is the scientific name given to an unborn baby from the completion of the eighth week of conception until birth.[1] Prior to that time, an unborn baby is called an embryo.
The heart starts to beat in the fifth or sixth week of pregnancy, while still in the embryonic stage, and is fully developed by the tenth week of pregnancy.[2]
