Some medical trade associations have published an advisory statement regarding male circumcision. When performed on an newborn infant who cannot safely be given general anesthesia, circumcision causes extreme, traumatizing [[pain]]. For good reason, one may expect the statements appear to have been vetted by their legal departmentsprior to publication, so they are not purely medical statements.

==Legal issue==
Full disclosure of the pain, physical and psychic trauma, and loss of physiological function caused by harmful [[circumcision]] would expose fellows/members to lawsuits for damages so statements refrain from full disclosure of the harm and certain injury.<ref>{{REFjournal
