A dermoid cyst is a cyst of the skin that uncommonly occurs at the site of the circumcision wound as it heals. It is a complication of male circumcision.[1]

A cyst is described as "an abnormal closed epithelium-lined sac in the body that contains a liquid or semisolid substance."[2] There are many types of cysts. Most are benign.

Dermoid cysts secondary to circumcision may be less uncommon where traditional circumcision is practiced. Osifo & Oriaifo (2009) reported 10 cases of implantation cyst among 346 circumcised boys in Nigeria.[3]
