Dr. '''Elizabeth Blackwell''' (3 February 1821 - 31 May 1910) was a British-born physician, notable as the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States, as well as the first woman on the UK Medical Register. She was the first woman to graduate from medical school, a pioneer in promoting the education of women in medicine in the United States, and a social and moral reformer in both the [[United States ]] and the [[United Kingdom]].
She became famous in the [[Intactivism]] movement for this citation which in fact shows her belief (of that time) that [[masturbation]] is insane. Instead of preventing it by [[circumcision]] she asked for moral and physical education:
The plea that this unnatural practice will lessen the risk of infection to the sensualist in promiscuous intercourse is not one that our honourable profession will support. Parents, therefore, should be warned that this ugly mutilation of their children involves serious danger, both to their physical and moral health.
