In the Children's Convention we can read in e.g. § 3 "All decisions relating to a child shall primarily be considered in what is deemed to be the best interests of the child." Furthermore, we can read in § 24 "Children have the right to the best possible access to health care and rehabilitation. Traditional practices that are harmful to the child's health must be abolished."* [[Sweden]]
If we oppose these, it is quite clear that Sweden must change the law on [[circumcision]] for boys if we are to follow the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.{{LINKS}}
In addition, we can read in the media about countless circumcisions of boys where there have been serious complications for the little boys. We cannot allow adults to injure and cause small children pain as pain relief is not always possible to give birth to infants* [https://sd.se/ Official site]{{REF}}
If someone wants to be circumcised, this should happen at an adult age and not forced on little children.
We propose that the Congress decide:
* That SKL works actively to comply with the Children's Convention and that no boys are circumcised without medical reasons.
* That SKL works to have the Act on Circumcision Act 2001: 299 removed from Swedish legislation as it is a direct violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
