Egale describes itself as a trust to advance the human rights of 2SLGBTQI people in Canada. Egale was founded by Les McAfee in 1986.

Legal advocacy

Egale, represented by Christopher Russo, filed a suit or application in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice against the attorney-general of Canada on 15 June 2021 to extend Charter and human rights to protect intersex persons. The court file number is CV-21-000867SO.000.[2]
