Jonathan Hutchinson
Sir Jonathan Hutchinson (23 July 1828 in Selby, Yorkshire, United Kingdom – 23 June 1913 in Haslemere, Surrey, United Kingdom), was an English surgeon, ophthalmologist, dermatologist, venereologist, and pathologist.
In 1855, Hutchinson published his theory that circumcision prevents syphilis.[1] He later (1890) promoted his notion in the United Kingdom that male circumcision prevented masturbation.[2] He first published A Plea for Circumcison in 1890.[3]
