Gangrene "is the term used to describe the decay or death of an organ or tissue caused by a lack of blood supply."[1]

Debridement of the dead tissue appears to be the most common treatment for gangrene.[2]

Gangrene of the foreskin is a recognized medical indication for amputation of the foreskin by circumcision.
