Mr Samkange graduated as a doctor from Cambridge University and King’s College Hospital, London. He went on general surgical and urology training rotations in the UK. He joined the University of Zimbabwe initially as a specialist urology lecturer in the Department of Surgery then laterally transferred to the Institute of Continuing Health Education where he has served as a Heath Training Educator in the University. He has been head of the Institute since 1993. He has served in the University of Zimbabwe Senate since 1993. He was Chairman of the Zimbabwe Open University Council and is a past president of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa. Mr Samkange was one of the Zimbabweans who spearheaded the uptake of VMMC from the time of the WHO recommendation in 2007. He led with Dr Hatzold the setting up of the training and implementing programmes, writing a large part of the training materials. He has been part of the WHO TAG on [[VMMC]] from early on. Currently he is in the national Steering Committee, the national Adverse Event management committee and Mentorship programme for providers.<ref>{{REFdocument
