The VMMC Experience Project was established in 2014 to give a voice to the people affected by the West’s mass circumcision campaign in Africa. Their mission is to empower the most frequently overlooked contingent: Africans. The project director is [[Prince Hillary Maloba]] from Kenya.
They sent people with cameras to Uganda and Kenya, who documented the realities of the mass circumcision program. Local investigators conducted interviews with 90 affected men and women <ref>https://www.thestreet.com/story/13910168/3/africans-speak-out-against-the-mass-circumcision-campaign.html</ref> and found:
* Africans are told circumcision conveys immunity from HIV.
* Condom use is at an all-time low, and AIDS is on the rise.
