Although the Hertzl family was strongly Jewish, Hertzl and his wife did not support [[Brit Milah| circumcision]] as required by the alleged [[Abrahamic covenant]], so when Hans was born on 10 June 1891, they refused to have Hans [[circumcised]] on the eighth day as was customary for Jews.
