wikify Lag(2001:499)
|Text=As the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child will now become law on 1 January 2020, this means that many laws will need to be amended and adapted so as not to conflict with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
One such is [[Lag(2001:499)|Law (2001:499) ]] on the circumcision of boys. There you can read that the boy's attitude to the intervention should be clarified as far as possible. At the same time, we can also read that even unlicensed doctors are allowed to perform circumcisions if the boy is under two months old. How can an infant express their attitude?
In the Children's Convention we can read in e.g. § 3 "All decisions relating to a child shall primarily be considered in what is deemed to be the best interests of the child." Furthermore, we can read in § 24 "Children have the right to the best possible access to health care and rehabilitation. Traditional practices that are harmful to the child's health must be abolished."
