Construction Site
This article is work in progress and not yet part of the free encyclopedia IntactiWiki.
The IntactiWiki is set up with various language instances, currently supporting 13 languages. The most articles have been created in the English and German IntactiWiki so far.
You want to translate articles from one IntactiWiki language instance to another? Here we go. (The following description uses English as the source and German as the target language.)
- Find the English article you want to translate.
- Decide whether the English title of the article itself also has to be translated, or if it can be taken literally for the German version, too.
- Create the German article page.
- Copy the English article content into the German article.
- Translate everything. Don't save the German article until you're done and the result is acceptable for you.
These are the basic steps. Now you get more details about how to do these steps.

Find the source article you want to translate
Chances are that you want to translate an article of the wide range of IntactWiki articles that have been incorporated into the IntactiWiki recently. So your best starting point is the Discussion page of the IntactWiki article where you will find lists of all IntactWiki articles and categories.
Do you have to translate the title?
The title of an article is the one you use to create the article. It will be used as the wiki link later. Basically it's a good idea to translate everything properly into the target language, e.g. you would translate the article title Circumcision into Zirkumzision in German.
But there are article titles which must not be translated, e.g. proper names, original titles of media, person's names.
Create the target article page
There are different ways for creating new articles. If you want to translate an existing article, it's always recommended to open the target article page in a second browser tab.
- As you may have known already, you create a new article page by entering its title into the search field and click on the red link the search result page gives you.
- If the source article already has an interlanguage link to your target language, simply click on the language name in the navigation bar to open the target article page.
- Or you select the target article link from one of the lists mentioned above in the Talk:IntactWiki page.
Copy the source article content
- In the source article page, click the Edit button to see the wiki source. Select and copy it.
- In the target article page (which probably is already opened in Edit mode), paste the copied source content.
