Funder of Africa RCT "research".
Fauci, as Director of NIAID, controlled a very large research budget,[2] from which he allocated funds for two randomized controlled trials to be carried out in Africa. The trials supposedly were to determine if male circumcision was an effective at preventing female to male HIV infection, but were so conducted as to prove what the researchers wanted to prove — that male circumcision prevented HIV infection. Fauci's NIAID approved of:
- A grant (UO1 AI11171-01-02) from the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), Division of AIDS, National Institutes of Health (NIH), and in part by the Division of Intramural Research, NIAID, NIH resulted in:
- Bailey RC, Moses S, Parker CB, et al. Male circumcision for HIV prevention in young men in Kisumu, Kenya: A randomised controlled trial. Lancet. 2007; 369(9562): 643–656.
- 2. Gray RH, Kigozi G, Serwadda D, et al. Male circumcision for HIV prevention in men in Rakai, Uganda: A randomised trial. Lancet. 2007; 369(9562): 657-666.
Supporter of PEPFAR
Fauci designed and recommended approval of the highly expensive and ineffective PEPFAR program to circumcise sub-Saharan Africa to President George W. Bush in 2008.[3] [4]
