==Early life==
In 1986, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the [https://www.alluniversity.info/eritrea/university-of-asmara/ {{UNI|University of Asmara]|UoA}}.<ref name="CV"/> In 1986, after his first degree, he joined the [https://www.ethiopia.gov.et/ministries/ministry-of-health/ Ethiopian Ministry of Health] as a junior public health expert.
He studied at the [https://www.lshtm.ac.uk/ London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine] and was awarded a Master of Science degree in immunology of infectious diseases from the [https://london.ac.uk/ {{UNI|University of London] |Lond}} in 1992.<ref name="CV" />
==Public health work==
Tedros sought additional education. He attended the [https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/ {{UNI|University of Nottingham] |UON}} where in 2000 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in public health.<ref name="CV" /> He then returned to Ethiopia.
