Anthony Fauci, M.D.[a 1], (born 24 December 1940) is the American physician-scientist and immunologist serving as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984.[1]
Fauci's name is much in the news today in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, but this article is narrowly focused on his role as a friend of Bill Gates and a promoter of circumcision.

Funder of Africa RCT "research"
Fauci, as Director of NIAID, controlled a very large research budget,[2] from which he allocated funds for two randomized controlled trials to be carried out in Africa. The trials supposedly were to determine if male circumcision was an effective at preventing female to male HIV infection, but were so conducted as to prove what the researchers wanted to prove — that male circumcision prevented HIV infection. Fauci's NIAID approved of a grant (UO1 AI11171-01-02) from the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), Division of AIDS, National Institutes of Health (NIH), and in part by the Division of Intramural Research, NIAID, NIH resulted in:
- Bailey RC, Moses S, Parker CB, et al. Male circumcision for HIV prevention in young men in Kisumu, Kenya: A randomised controlled trial. Lancet. 24 February 2007; 369(9562): 643–56. PMID. DOI. Retrieved 31 December 2021.
- Gray RH, Kigozi G, Serwadda D, et al. Male circumcision for HIV prevention in men in Rakai, Uganda: A randomised trial. Lancet. 24 February 2007; 369(9562): 657-66. PMID. DOI. Retrieved 31 December 2021.
These RCTs and the notion that male circumcision somehow can prevent HIV infection has received massive critical comment:[3] [4] [5] [6] [7] S. men and about 70% of sub-Saharan African men are circumcised—higher percentages than in most other regions or countries with lower prevalence of HIV.[8] [9]
Supporter of PEPFAR
Fauci designed and recommended approval of the highly expensive and ineffective PEPFAR program to circumcise sub-Saharan Africa to President George W. Bush in 2008.[10][11] PEPFAR claims to have performed 27.7 million circumcisions on men and boys,[12] all of which we now know to have been ineffective at preventing HIV infection.[13] [14] [15] Circumcision of boys who had not reached age 15 had to be stopped in November 2019 because of the high rate of injury.[16]
Fish et al. (2019) criticized PEPFAR for its racist nature.[17]
