Cole Jordan Groth (born 31 March 2025 in New York, New York, USA) was born with congenital heart disease (CHD) at Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital in Manhattan which is associated with Columbia University.[1] [2]
A few days later, Cale received surgery to place a stent to treat his heart disease.[1]

Solicitation for foreskin amputation
Solicitation for medically non-indicated, non-therapeutic circumcision is a popular activity because it increases hospital revenue.[3] There are no medical indications for circumcision of the newborn. It is a medically-unnecessary, non-therapeutic procedure. Circumcision creates horrible pain and trauma, so an infant must be "stable and healthy" to survive the surgery.[4] It is not clear that Cole, who recently had heart surgery, was stable and healthy. It also is not clear that the legal required informed consent was received by the parents, Tim and Gabrielle Groth, who apparently granted surrogate consent for a non-therapeutic surgical amputation and genital mutilation in violation of standards of medical ethics.[5]
It is not clear why the Groths selected circumcision for Cole, since circumcision of the newborn does not treat or prevent disease and puts the infant boy at risk of bleeding, infection, and surgical misadventure. The most usual reason is to enable the hospital and attending physician to collect a fee.[6]
Cole's circumcision
The circumcision was performed on the night shift at 11 PM. The surgeon has not been identified.[7]
The circumcision wound started to haemorrhage in the night, but was not immediately detected. There is very little blood in a newborn infant's body, so little blood loss can be tolerated.
