Pearly penile papules (PPP) are a "localized nodular anatomic variant of the penile corona, first seen at ages 20-50 as a verrucous lesion."[1]
Contents
Description
PPP occur mostly on the glans penis of some men near the corona. They are more common on men with an intact foreskin and less common on circumcised men. They are somewhat more common in black men. The cause of PPP is unknown. PPP are not malignant and are benign. They are not an infection. PPP are harmless.[2]
They are not a good reason to get a circumcision, which is now known to be very harmful.[3]
Treatment
Treatment is elective. Some men are offended by the appearance of the PPP and seek to have them removed for cosmetic reasons. Dermatologists have several ways to remove the PPPs.
